How deep should a borehole be in Zimbabwe?Typical boreholes in Zimbabwe are drilled to 40m–90m, but our rigs can go up to 200m deep depending on water table levels and location. Deeper boreholes are often required in granite or low-water-yield areas.

Can you install solar-powered borehole systems?Yes. We specialize in solar borehole systems for homes, schools, farms, and clinics. Solar pumps are efficient, low-maintenance, and ideal for off-grid or rural areas in Zimbabwe. We'll size your solar system based on your water yield and usage.

What happens if no water is found?While rare, dry boreholes can happen. If no water is found, you only pay for the drilling and site mobilization—we won’t charge for system installation or pumps. We also offer hydrological siting services to reduce this risk.

How do I maintain my borehole?Keep the borehole head sealed and protected from runoff or contamination. Clean solar panels regularly (if installed), avoid over-pumping, and consider flushing the borehole every few years. We offer maintenance plans to keep your system efficient.

Do I need permits to drill a borehole in Zimbabwe?Yes. In most cases, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) requires registration of boreholes. We help with documentation and permitting as part of our service package.

How long does the drilling process take?On average, the full process—from mobilization to pump installation—takes 2 to 5 days, depending on site accessibility and depth.

Can you drill in remote or rural locations?Absolutely. RIVV Drilling operates throughout Zimbabwe and is fully equipped to handle rural borehole drilling with solar or generator-powered systems. Our rigs are built for tough terrain and remote areas.

How long does a borehole last?With proper construction and maintenance, a borehole can last 20 to 30 years or more. The pump and electrical components may require servicing or replacement every 5–10 years depending on usage.
